For the safety of your business and your customer, there are numerous security issues that you must be aware of as an online merchant accepting credit card payments.

There are two main aspects of credit card security, AVS and CVV. These two forms of verification will validate that a customer is the genuine credit card holder.

“AVS” Address Verification Service is what determines if the address provided by the customer matches the address of the credit card.

“CVV” also known as the Card Verification Value is the three to four digit number found on the back of a credit card. This code is only found on the credit card therefor making a strong suggestion that the card is on the hand of a customer.
